Summers are here and A/C’s are being primed to provide us with some succour as we prepare battle it out for the next seven months with the subtropical menace – a combination of sweat, heat rashes and the occasional nose bleed. Agreed, summers aren’t half as fun as winters. But there’s one thing that will help us smile through the heat wave – sexy summery dresses. Designer wear for women will take on a whole new meaning with those colourful summer dresses our ladies dress up in to light up the streets.

And who else to guide us on what to wear for summer than feisty divas of Bollywood. The trends they set are loved by all of us. So with help of the style gurus of Design Emporia – India’s biggest Fashion eCommerce portal, we short listed the looks we loved the most.

Anushka Manchanda
The look:
The long legged Lass

Why we like: We could stop ourselves from raving about the very hip and happening leggings with floral prints that Anuska is sporting in this picture. When coupled with the wispy white blouse, the ensemble looks both elegant and understated. That’s actually the trick to wearing floral printed dresses. Instead of appearing like a untended garden (overpowering floral motifs), Anuska limited the prints to her leggings and smartly kept the rest of the look simple.

Natasha Poonawala
The look: Flower Gal

Why we like: Again, an amazing example wearing flower patterned designer dresses. Such printed garments we predict will be a rage this summer and a welcome relief from boring pastel shades that had dominated much of 2010 and 2012. This Viviene Westwood dress sported by Natasha effortlessly brings out the fun and flirty side of summer.

Akansha Nanda
The look: Oh, So Cute

Why we like: Lace works and works wonders on a dress crafted for the petite figure of Akanska. The puffed skirt can’t be pulled off by everyone and can make you look like hydrogen balloon but the lace and tight ringlets reigning in the puffiness, the dress looks simply too cute to resist. A teenager’s designer dress which would look very flattering on anyone below twenty six.

Kalki Koechlin
The look: The Meadow Look

Why we like: The look works because Kalki has deliberately kept it uncomplicated and simple. What adds some oomph to the look are her cool platform wedge heels. Gives her much need vertical inches and looks so colourful and cool for the summer.

There is no end to such summer designer dresses for women in virtual gallery of Designemporia.in. Here’s one of my personal favourites. The funky prints and artsy cut makes this designer top from Quirk Box a must have for every girl.
